About Vet At Your Door
Vet At Your Door (VAYD) is a veterinarian-owned and operated house call practice serving communities across Maine. Founded on the belief that the best care happens at home, we bring high-quality, compassionate veterinary medicine directly to our clients’ doors.

We’re privately owned with a bold vision: to become the first 100% employee-owned national veterinary company (ESOP planned within the next three years).
This role blends advanced technical skill, leadership, and client communication. Our visits focus on connection, education, and thoughtful medicine, often integrating complementary therapies such as acupuncture and cold laser alongside modern veterinary care.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician to lead and operate a mobile technician team in the field. This is a high-autonomy, leadership-forward position ideal for a technician who enjoys ownership, decision-making, and mentoring others.

You will run technician appointments independently under the indirect supervision of our veterinarians, guide your assigned technician/assistant, and serve as the primary operational lead for your mobile unit. You’ll be trusted to make sound decisions in the field, confidently address client questions and concerns while knowing when to escalate concerns. This is also an administratively heavy role. Strong organizational skills, comfort with documentation, scheduling coordination, inventory, communication, and follow-up tasks are essential for success.

Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and manage a mobile technician team (yourself plus one assistant or technician)
-
Independently run technician appointments in client homes
-
Use real-time clinical and logistical assessments in the field
-
Know when and how to seek DVM support when needed
-
Confidently communicate with clients, addressing questions and concerns professionally and compassionately
-
Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to your team member
-
Maintain accurate medical records, documentation, and follow-up communication
-
Manage and complete administrative responsibilities related to appointments, inventory, and workflow
-
Uphold VAYD standards of care, professionalism, and client experience

This Role Is a Great Fit If You:
-
Are a natural leader who enjoys guiding and supporting others
-
Thrive in autonomous roles and take pride in ownership and accountability
-
Are confident making decisions independently in the field
-
Have a clear understanding of when to escalate clinical questions to the veterinarian
-
Communicate clearly and calmly with clients in sensitive or complex situations
-
Enjoy both hands-on clinical work and behind-the-scenes administrative tasks
-
Value work-life balance and consistent weekday hours
-
Want to grow within a mission-driven, privately owned (soon-to-be employee-owned) practice

Qualifications & Experience
-
Active Maine Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or license-eligible
-
Previous leadership experience strongly preferred, including:
-
Lead Technician experience
-
Supervisor or management experience
-
Training or mentoring other technicians or assistants
-
-
Minimum 5+ years of clinical experience (more strongly preferred for leadership candidates)
-
Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
-
Professional, compassionate presence in client homes
-
Reliable, adaptable, and confident working independently

General Practice Veterinarian - 4-Day Week, No Weekends or Surgery (Brunswick Area and Kennebunk Area)

Vet At Your Door is a housecall veterinary practice built around genuine connection and proactive, lifelong care. Our mission is to deliver an exceptional and deeply personal veterinary experience where every pet and person feels genuinely cared for by a dedicated team who thrives in their work.

We were founded in 2015 by Dr Deirdre Frey. We have been privately owned and servicing the communities of Maine ever since. We are in the process of converting to an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) with the goal of being 100% employee owned within 3 yrs.

A day in the life: Imagine starting your day with a teammate you know and trust: your dedicated veterinary technician, checking in with your client liaison, and heading out to see pets who’ve grown up with you. These aren't rushed appointments in loud lobbies; they’re calm, meaningful visits in the place pets are most comfortable: their homes.

You’ll see 6–7 households a day, mostly familiar clients who consider you part of the family, and occasionally new ones eager to build that same long-term relationship. Your cases might include managing chronic conditions, performing diagnostics, talking through treatment options, or helping a family say goodbye to their beloved companion. It’s full-spectrum care with the time and connection to do it right.

You’re part of a One Team: the same veterinary technician, the same client liaison—your team—every day, seeing YOUR clients. Your liaison fields calls, manages communication, and keeps your day flowing so you can focus on what you love: the medicine, the relationships, the moments that matter.

By around 4:00 PM, you’re finishing up your day and heading home, maybe with a thank-you card or some fresh eggs from a grateful client who appreciates the superior level of care you provide.
Schedule: Week days only; no nights, no weekends, no on call. We are passionate about work/life boundaries. Employees working 32 hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits.

For your family pets we offer a discount for our services and a discount for pet food.
