Kate Cheeseman, BVM&S

Dr. Cheeseman grew up in Vermont, and graduated from Bates College with a degree in biochemistry. She worked in medical research and scientific writing fields for several years before returning to her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She lived in Scotland for a decade, and during this time graduated from veterinary school at the University of Edinburgh in 2015 and then headed to the Highlands where she worked in mixed practice. She then also worked in small animal clinics and in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory, before moving back to New England in late 2019, to settle in Maine.

She enjoys getting to know pets and their people, and has particular interests in preventative medicine and hospice care. It is satisfying to work toward keeping pets of all ages healthy, helping older animals to live their best lives, as well as considering with compassion when it is time to let go.

In her free time, she also works at a public library, and enjoys reading, knitting, horseback riding, skiing, traveling and spending time with her husband, friends and family. And as the name coincidentally implies, she does like cheese and some years can be found volunteering at the Maine Cheese Festival.
