Available Positions:

End-of-Life House Call Veterinarian

Location: Greater Portland Area

Vet At Your Door, a privately- and woman-owned house call veterinary practice, is looking for an end-of-life veterinarian for our Southern service area. Specifically, we need commitment for Fridays, Saturdays, and/OR Sundays. It is a real need in our community for pet owners not to have to bring their very sick and beloved animal to the ER for their last moments on the weekend. People are SO incredibly grateful for it and this is some of the most rewarding veterinary work out there. A nice aside is that it also pays well and is on a pro-sal structure.

Job information: Our end-of-life doctors work on their own (i.e. not usually a tech). The on-call hours are 8am-7pm and you usually would have anywhere from 2-8 euthanasias on a given day. If you are interested in doing a weekend day (Sat/Sun), you would also perform some receptionist duties (i.e. calling people back, entering them in the system if they aren't a client, invoicing them) and we have many fine-tuned processes (created over many years!) to make this as easy and automated as possible. There would also be a BRAND NEW vehicle for you to use (Toyota Sienna Hybrid) that is housed at our office in Brunswick. The area for emergent euthanasias is from Kennebunk to Augusta (south to north) and Lewiston to Woolwich going west to east. Appointments are scheduled as efficiently as possible to minimize drive time. We do require COVID-vaccination, as we go into many senior and immunocompromised homes.

Benefits: If three days are committed to, you would receive full-time benefits (health, vision, dental, etc.). Anyone can participate in our 3% SIMPLE IRA match. And we offer 2 weeks PTO to all employees, with 3 weeks after the first year.

We have a WONDERFUL group here who have been with us for years - from the receptionists to the techs to the docs (seven of them) to the managers. We have worked incredibly hard to nurture a culture of support and no drama. We take pride in practicing great medicine, helping people and their pets, and providing an exceptional level of client/customer service.

If you are interested, please reach out to Deirdre Frey, VMD at deirdre@vetatyourdoor.com to chat!

Licensed Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Assistant

Location: Kennebunk, Maine AND Carrabassett Valley, Maine

Join our one-of-a-kind team and help make a successful practice run like well-oiled machine.

Vet At Your Door, a privately owned, mindfully-growing, and award-winning house call veterinary practice, is looking for a fabulous Licensed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to team up with one of our amazing doctors doing house calls. In Kennebunk, we see dogs and cats. In Carrabassett Valley, we see animals large and small.

You would be the veterinarian’s “right-hand person” while ensuring a top-notch client and patient veterinary experience. Not only would you be in front of the clients, helping to handle the animals and nurture the client relationship, but you would also be doing a lot of "behind the scenes" work including managing inventory and calls and emails.

We treat our team like gold, believing that when our team members are happy, it allows us to practice our best medicine. Oh, and NO WEEKENDS.

If you are:

  • Someone who doesn’t need to be told what to do, you just do it because it’s what’s needed

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about animal restraint, high-quality veterinary care, and superb customer service.

  • A person who has a legion of raving fans

  • A people-person (not just an animal lover, you love people too)

  • Someone who sees yourself reflected in your work

  • Someone who doesn’t get car sick and has a great sense of humor (on the road, it helps!)

  • Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19

Then you might be a great fit!

Hourly wage is very competitive ($18-$26/hr) and is based on experience and education. Benefits include health/dental/vision/life insurance, 3% SIMPLE IRA match, and 2 weeks of PTO, extending to 3 weeks after one year of working with us.

Please reach out to chat with our in-field manager Tina McKeon, LVT at tina@vetatyourdoor.com if you think this might be an interesting opportunity for you and that we might be a great match!
