COVID-19

For Regular Appointments

Wellness visits, sick visits, hospice care evaluations, acupuncture, and laser

***Note: Our staff is vaccinated.***

We respectfully require that you:

1. Wear a mask if the appointment takes place indoors, regardless of vaccination status. We will too. No mask is necessary if the visit takes place outdoors.  If you prefer us to wear one outside, please let us know and we will happily oblige.

2. CANCEL if you or anyone in your household:

3. For dogs:

  • Bring your dog outside if the weather is good and your dog is up to it. If it is very cold or inclement weather, a garage or shed is second best.

4. For cats:

  • Please be sure your cat is easily available to us when we walk inside (sometimes easier said than done, we know!). You can use a carrier or a room without a place for them to hide like a ninja. No cat wild goose chases will occur.

5. Maintain social distance from us (6 feet) at all times.

6. Answer the questions in the "pre-exam" check in email we will send three days prior to the appointment to help us be efficient. We will not be able to do the appointment without receiving these answers in a timely manner.

7. Throw away our trash after the appointment to minimize contamination.

8.  Weigh your animal prior to the appointment if able.

9. Note: We have returned to collecting payment at time of service - you can pay by credit card or check.

COVID-19 Protocols for Euthanasia Appointments

It’s strange to say, but euthanasias are one of the most rewarding things we do. Through years of experience, we have refined our methods to make this heartbreaking situation as peaceful for the pet and family alike.  COVID-19, of course, has thrown a wrench in things and we aren’t able to flow through the process as meaningfully and lovingly as we would otherwise.

*****Firstly, for your knowledge, all members of our team are vaccinated for COVID-19. *****

1. Wear a mask if the appointment takes place indoors, regardless of vaccination status.  We will too.  No mask is necessary if the appointment takes place outdoors. If you prefer us to wear one outside, just ask - we are happy to oblige.

2. Please CANCEL if you or anyone in your household:

3. Please maintain a 6 foot distance from our staff. This includes no hugging. Trust us, this one is hard for us too!

4. For dogs:

  • If the weather is nice and your dog is up to it, it's preferred to do the euthanasia outside.  If we do the procedure indoors, we may go in and out of your house between injections.

  • We always sedate first, as it creates the most peaceful process possible. We ask that you remember to keep a distance for this injection. After the sedative is injected, we will walk much further away (or go outside if we are inside) so that you can be with your dog while he or she falls asleep.

  • Once they are asleep, we will approach again to give the final injection.

  • You can say your goodbyes as you wish while we step away. If you request cremation, you can let us know when you want to give your pet to us.

5. For cats:

  • Please have your cat easily available to us upon walking inside.

  • We always sedate first, as it creates the most peaceful process possible. We ask that you remember to keep a distance for this injection. After the sedative is injected, we may go back outside for 10 minutes or so. This way, you can be with your cat while he or she falls asleep.

  • The doctor will come back inside to give the final injection.

  • You can say your goodbyes as you wish while we step away. If you request cremation, you can let us know when you want to give your pet to us.

6. We will leave more quickly than we otherwise would to minimize exposure. We feel bad about this :(

7. We ask that you make payment ahead of the appointment - again, to minimize exposure and contact. We will send you the invoice shortly that outlines the way to pay online.

Thank you for your understanding of these protocols. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you have. I hope you see we don’t like practicing with such rigid rules but we also hope to give your pet the best possible send-off amidst this terrible pandemic.
